Furniture Buying And Care Tips
By Stefan Teek..
Unless you live in an RV, you need for your home. Buying is all about understanding what you are getting into. Here are some tips as well as some advice on caring for it.

1. Dealer Negotiated Discounts – Dealers mark up their something fierce. If you want to get a better deal, it is not particularly difficult. Just ask them! If that fails, offer to pay in cash and watch their eyes light up.

2. Leather Warranties – When buying leather furniture, ask about warranties. This is one time you want to buy the warranty. Leather repairs can be pricey.

3. Mattress Pricing – The price of a mattress is reflective of only one thing – what they store thinks they can get for it. Price does not mean quality.

4. Antique Salespeople – A sales persons job is to sell furniture, not necessarily be “accurate.” Don’t rely on anything they tell you about an antique piece.

5. Buying New Strategy – Much like the chicken and the egg quandary, should you buy all your at once or piece by piece? In general, going slowly is the better choice.

6. Shipping Fees – Make sure you understand in detail what you are paying for with shipping fees. Does it include delivery into the home and placement in a room? What if the room is upstairs?

7. Antique Investment – Many people buy antique for the investment value. In practical terms, this rarely works if you hate the look of the piece. Try to buy a good investment that matches your tastes.

8. Heating Vents and Leather – Do not place your leather around heating vents. They will dry the leather out.

9. Hiding Scratches – Scratches in your can be absolutely maddening. Ah, but you can hide them. Try a padding lacquer.

10.

Drawers Are Sticking – How many times have you run into the problem of drawers sticking? Lots, I bet. You can use a paste wax on the surfaces that rub. It will slide like a dream after that.

To effectively buy furniture, you need to be able to do some mental imaging. A piece in a store may look great, but will it look good in your home? The answer may be no, so make sure to visualize before buying.
